Mae Victoria Lundorff was born May 29th 1931 in Sandstone Minnesota.
She attended grade school and High School in Sandstone and graduated in 1949.
After High School she went to the University of Mn. Nursing school for a year.
Mae married Marsh Nelson on Nov 16 1957. They lived in Duluth Mn. and she was employed as a School Nurse for many years.
They had 3 children.
Ginger, who married Tom Kerr and they have one son Nolen.
Gregory was second. He never married nor had children.
Nancy was married and divorced and has no children, she belongs to Altrusa womens group and she were president of Norsman Federation in her retirement years.
Mae died on Friday October 3, 2025. The Duluth News Tribune wrote:
Mae Virginia Nelson, 94, of Duluth, peacefully passed away of natural causes, surrounded by her family, while listening to the Sound of Music soundtrack, on Friday October 3, 2025.
She was born in Sandstone, MN on May 29, 1931, to Nels and Laura Lundorff.
Mae was a graduate of the University of Minnesota LPN Program, and worked as an LPN at Abbott Northwestern, St. Barnabas, and St. Luke’s hospitals, and as a school nurse for the Duluth Public School District, ISD #709.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Altrusa, past member of the Norseman Federation, and the UMD Blue Line Club Auxiliary. Mae enjoyed baking, canning, and gardening.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Christian “Mike”, Irvin, Edward, Nels “Robert”, and Norman Lundorff, and a sister, Martha Wallin.
Mae is survived by her children Ginger (Thomas) Kerr of Rochester, MN, Greg Nelson of Duluth, and Nancy Nelson of Stillwater, MN, grandson Nolan Kerr of Rochester, MN, sister Laura McMichael of Pullman, WA, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. 1325 N. 45th Ave. East, Duluth, MN 55804.
